Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Review

A whole new castle to crash full of unexpected monsters and mysteries in the vein of classic Castlevania.

Giving Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night a Second Chance

My Patrons asked me to give Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night a Second Chance. After an underwhelming first hour, did more of the game do enough to change my opinion?

BLOODSTAINED (Final Thoughts) – Happy Console Gamer

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night review/first thoughts is an metroidvania action role-playing video game developed by ArtPlay, DICO and WayForward Technologies, and published by 505 Games. The game’s development was led by former Castlevania series producer Koji Igarashi, and is considered a spiritual successor to the series. Bloodstained was released for Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in June 2019. A retro-style companion game, Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon, was developed by Inti Creates and released in May 2018.

Igarashi conceived the game after his departure from Konami in 2014, prompted by numerous fan requests for him to make another Metroidvania-type game. He used the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter to demonstrate to potential funding agencies of the demand for the game in 2015, which successfully raised more than US$5.5 million from backers, making it one of the most funded video game campaigns on the platform.
