EDEXCEL ESOL for KS4 Students

Edexcel ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) qualifications have been developed to give EAL learners the opportunity to:

  • achieve a level of attainment in English which is appropriate to their needs
  • use language confidently at a level to function in school or college, at work or in society in general
  • engage in learning which is relevant to them and will provide opportunities to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal skills and attributes essential for successful performance in school and work environment
  • achieve a nationally recognised qualification (the qualifications are available at Entry 1 – 3 and Level 1 and Level 2).

Students take an exam to complete the following skills:

  • Unit 1: Speaking and Listening
  • Unit 2: Writing
  • Unit 3: Reading

By doing the  EDEXCEL ESOL qualification students  improve  their English language skills, develop as independent learners and acquire knowledge and transferable skills that are invaluable in making progress across the curriculum.

Many EAL  KS3 and KS 4 students also attend afterschool EAL support  club on Mondays  when they have the chance to ask for help and support with their homework. The club also offers extra opportunities for EAL students to experience English through interactive games and activities.

All EAL students are given access to the Linguascope website, this provides them with tools to improve their English Language skills.
We encourage students and parents to use this website to improve their English skills.
